What is zirconium electro corundum?
Zirconium electro corundum is a type of fused alumina-zirconia composite abrasive that adds zirconium materials( such as zircon sand or desilication zirconium) in the fusing process. The zirconia content of zirconia corundum is 25-40%. According to the different ZrO2 content, zirconia corundum is divided into AZ25 and AZ40. The wear resistance of zirconia corundum is dozens of times higher than that of corundum melted from single alumina or bauxite alumina. It is an abrasive material with high toughness and wear resistance.
Zirconium material itself has the characteristics of high density and stable crystal structure. After being made into zirconia corundum abrasive, it has the following characteristics:
1. The crystal structure of zirconia itself is a stable high-density hexagonal stacking structure. It presents a dendritic zirconia alumina eutectic structure after fusion with aluminum oxide, resulting in a very stable physical structure. Therefore, zirconia corundum has high compressive strength and bending strength.
2. The crystal size of fused zirconia corundum abrasive is very small. By controlling the melting process and cooling process, the fused zirconia and alumina crystals quickly cool down. Thus it strengthens its eutectic structure and controls the crystal size. The crystal size of zirconia corundum is 10-20um, and during grinding operations, the detachment of the grinding surface is very small, which can greatly improve the grinding life.
3. The hardness of zirconium corundum abrasives keeps the advantages of corundum abrasives. The Mohs scale hardness is 9.0, which is applicable to metals, stainless steels, and composite high-hardness alloys, with a very wide range of applications.
4. Zirconium corundum has excellent fire resistance. The sintering temperature of zirconia corundum abrasive is 1500-1600 ° C, and its physical strength does not change under high-temperature conditions, making it suitable for the production of high wear-resistant and refractory components.
5. The increase in zirconia content in zirconia corundum can improve its thermal shock resistance. As the zirconium content in zirconia corundum increases, the monoclinic ZrO2 in the material increases, which can increase the number of small cracks inside the material and play a role in dispersing and absorbing thermal stress during thermal shock. At the same time, it also alleviates the diffusion process of main cracks inside zirconia corundum, thereby improving the high-temperature thermal shock resistance of zirconia corundum.
6. Zirconium electro corundum has a low thermal expansion rate and can maintain volume stability at high temperatures, making refractory components less prone to deformation.
From this, it can be seen that zirconium electro corundum is not only a highly wear-resistant grinding material, but also a highly refractory material, with obvious advantages in the steel, kiln, wear-resistant parts, and grinding tool industries.
