B40 zirconia ceramic beads are premium spherical shot blasting media following the international Zirblast B40 standard grading system. This grade B40 features a relatively large particle size among conventional ceramic blasting beads, delivering strong impact force for heavy-duty surface treatment and shot peening processes. The standard particle dimension of B40 ceramic beads ranges from 0.250 mm to 0.425 mm.
Material & Physical Characteristics
- Main composition: Zirconia-silica composite ceramic with high ZrO₂ content, free of iron, carbon and heavy metal impurities; no secondary ferrous contamination on workpieces.
- Shape: High sphericity solid dense beads, uniform grain distribution, low breakage rate under continuous high-speed blasting.
- Hardness & density: High Vickers hardness and specific gravity around 3.8 g/cm³. Greater mass enables powerful striking effect without raising excessive blasting pressure.
- Recyclability: Reusable for hundreds of blasting cycles with proper separation and recovery devices, far longer service life than glass beads or plastic abrasives.
- Low dust emission, stable chemical property, acid and alkali resistant.
Core Performance Advantages
- Powerful deburring & descaling: The large bead size generates sufficient kinetic energy to clear thick oxidation layers, heavy flash burrs, casting scale and mold release residues efficiently.
- Effective shot peening: Creates uniform compressive stress layer on alloy workpieces to enhance fatigue resistance and extend service life of mechanical parts.
- Consistent semi-matte surface: Forms even, subtle textured finish without deep cutting scratches on metal surfaces.
- Wide material compatibility: Safe for aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, stainless steel, magnesium alloy, cobalt-chromium medical alloys and non-ferrous precision components.
- Less equipment loss: Smooth spherical surface reduces abrasion on blast nozzles, blast cabinet liners and recycling equipment.
