The difference between 25% and 40% Zirconia aluminum oxide

 

Zirconia aluminum oxide abrasive sand is a composite material with excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance. Generally,  there are  two types of zirconia abrasive including 25% zirconia aluminum oxide and 40% zirconia aluminum oxide according to the ZrO2 content. There are the following differences between the two in terms of performance, use, etc.:

1. Chemical composition

The main difference lies in the different content of alumina and zirconia.

2. Physical properties

-Density: Generally, as the zirconium oxide content increases, the density of the composite material also increases. The density of zirconium oxide is higher than that of alumina. Therefore, the density and specific gravity of 40% zirconia aluminum oxide are higher than those of 25% ZFA.

-Hardness and toughness: Because the advantages of zirconium oxide are toughness and wear resistance, the higher the zirconium oxide content, the higher its toughness and wear resistance. The characteristics of fused alumina are high hardness and good self-sharpening. The higher the alumina content, the better its hardness and self-sharpening. Therefore, the hardness and self-sharpening of 25% zirconium corundum are higher than those of 40% zirconium corundum,

The toughness and wear resistance of 40% zirconia aluminum oxide are better than those of 25% zirconia aluminum oxide.

-Thermal conductivity: Alumina has relatively good thermal conductivity, while zirconium oxide has low thermal conductivity. Therefore, 25% ZFA has higher thermal conductivity than 40% ZFA.

3. Application scenarios

-ZA25 zirconia aluminum oxide: Resin cutting discs, ordinary wear-resistant parts, refractory materials.

-ZA40 zirconia aluminum oxide: Heavy-duty grinding wheels with high wear resistance requirements, rail grinding wheels, important wear-resistant parts, etc.
